I was e-mailed the following through the Women of Faith Weekly Encouragement and it really hit home for me. I often see all my imperfections and wonder how I will overcome them. It brings me down into doubt and worry, but God is working in spite of, and through, my weaknesses. How amazing!
I love the fact that Jesus chose the salty apostle Peter - a guy whose big mouth got him into all kinds of trouble his whole lifeas the cornerstone of His church, confident that the mysterious machinations of grace would transform Peter's tendency to blurt things out into a great gift for proclaiming the truth. . . .
We expect a God of power to obliterate our weaknesses - instead we are more likely to encounter a God of love who finds impossibly creative ways to convert those liabilities into our best features. Only the Author of love could come up with a plot twist like this in the story of redemption - we actually become better not in spite of, but because of, our infirmities.
