Good Friday

Today my mind focuses solely on Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins. I took my lunch break today and with Brad I attended our church's Good Friday service. It humbled me to say the least. I am truly grateful for what Jesus did and can't imagine how he endured it. Even though it's called Good Friday it's a dark day remembering Jesus's death, and I am in a somber mood reflecting on that great sacrifice until Sunday when we can celebrate the joy of the resurrection! I'm looking forward to it.

It was also wonderful to once again see my husband's graphic talents put to use for the glory of God! He designed all the graphics for the current Lent series as well as today's Good Friday graphics (see above). I love seeing his work on the screens, and they just enhance the time I spend there in praise to God. You can also see it on our church's website at http://www.summitconnect.org/blogs/summit-church/posts/good-friday.

Now we are going to enjoy an Easter Egg hunt tomorrow, and dying eggs. Then it will be a nice family dinner after church for Easter! Praise be to God as we focus on Jesus's sacrifice this weekend.

A Muse

I'm art! Pretty cool, huh?

This is Brad's art piece for the Beatles Art Tribute show that took place the last few weeks in a studio in downtown Orlando. Brad and I visited the show gallery for the closing night this past Saturday. Each artist in the show designed their piece with inspiration from a Beatles song. Brad's song was Hey Jude, which Brad researched and found out that McCartney wrote the song for Lennon's son Julian during the time Lennon and Julian's mom were divorcing. It was intended to comfort Julian Lennon from the stress of his parents' divorce. This made Brad think of me and how I had to endure the divorce of my parents at a young age as well. So I became part of his inspiration, and he used a photo of me that he liked. I am touched, and as Brad is very talented, I loved what he put together. The peice is screen printed, which gives it so much character. We are definitely going to find a place for this on one of our walls at home.

Art

Yes, I'm up late tonight, but I wanted to post a photo of Brad's design piece that is hanging up in our church. These go with the sermon series "Essentials." The idea was that 8 different people created an art piece that showcases a different camping essential and how God is like that essential item. Brad had a lantern.

And I had to include a few cute Evan photos...

Full of Creativity

My husband is crazy creative! And that's a very good crazy. He is always amazing me with the new designs and art projects he comes up with. He's a graphic designer and currently teaching print design classes at a private university. He's been encouraging them to introduce the students to screen printing, and was given the opportunity to do so by leading a Screenprinting Workshop today. He worked so hard preparing, and getting everything set up just right for the demonstration. And it was a total success, maxing out the room with 59 people attending! Plus so many people, faculty included, told him how wonderful it went, and how they got such beneficial information from it. I'm so proud! Plus, they may be having him do the class again in the future.

Here is the final design he screenprinted...he designed it specially for the class. I had to share it as it turned out great. Screenprinting has been a hobby of his since he was introduced to it while at UCF. He even built a screenprinting table back when we lived in an apartment...not much room but he did it. Now it lives in our garage and he's actually got a decent little set up for screenprinting. The whole process takes a lot of patience though.

Brad has also been designing graphics for our church...you can check out those and other designs at his website - http://www.bposey.com/. One of his designs is hanging in the main entrance right now. I'm hoping to get a photo of it this Sunday.

So it was a good Friday! Now we get to enjoy the weekend.
